Questions parents ask

+How many letters are in the Nepali alphabet?

Nepali (Devanagari) has around 11–13 vowels (स्वर) and about 33 consonants (व्यञ्जन), plus conjunct letters that combine consonants. The chart above covers the full working set most learners start with.

+Is the Nepali alphabet the same as Hindi?

Both use the Devanagari script, so most letters look the same, and learning one helps with the other. Pronunciation and vocabulary differ, and Nepali has its own conventions.

+What's the best way to learn the letters?

Hear them and write them. Tap each letter to hear the sound, trace it to remember the shape, then practise on paper with the free workbook. Nepali Gurukul combines all three.

+Do I need to learn the whole alphabet before I can read?

No. You start recognising letters and sounds and build up — GURU adapts to your pace, so you're reading simple words well before you've mastered every conjunct.

+Is it free?

Yes. Practising the alphabet, the nightly story, games, and GURU chat are free forever, no credit card — and the 78-page writing workbook is a free welcome gift when you sign up.
